EXCLUSIVE: Berlin harder hit by the war than Swansea

Comments (0) Wednesday, Oct 14, 2009 Email To A Friend

Just back from a lads' trip to Berlin, where absolutely no mischief was got up to, no, not at all.

I'd issued a strict rule to the boys - don't mention the war.
But it's pretty difficult when the whole city is a living landmark to everything that happened then and since.
Growing up in Swansea, I was always told our city centre was modern because it had been bombed in the war.
But what happened to the German capital may put even South Wales' experience in the shade.

Now to turn to a story that combines two of my fave topics - crazy politicians and cricket.
Pakistani captain Younis Khan put down an easy catch when his team went out of the Champions Trophy to New Zealand recently.
An Indian journo suggested that meant the fix must be in.
And a crazy Pakistani legislator decided to launch hearings and grill the Pak skipper.
Not surprisingly, the often-emotional Younis went into a huff and resigned, even after his team have been one of the few things to bring Pakistanis any joy at all this year.
We're just glad that country has no bigger problems than this to attract the attention of their MPs.
