A MAN has ignored time honoured excuses for getting a sly day off work and jumped straight to self-harm.
While a quick phone call to the boss pleading swine flu or even faking a relative's death could have saved him a great deal of pain, Aaron Siebers decided to stab himself instead.
The video store employee, 29, used the blade to slash himself before inflicting a stab wound on his own leg.
He then called police in the US suburb of Denver telling them he'd been attacked by three men dressed in black before reporting the attack to his boss.
Siebers later admitted to police he had made up the assault, which ended up drawing five police agencies and police dogs to the scene.
