CHERYL COLE COMPETES WITH SAUSAGE ROLL

ABOVE: Cheryl Cole is more popular than sausage rolls
9th February 2010

By Tom Hutchison

WEB pranksters are staging a bizarre popularity contest between telly beauty Cheryl Cole and a sausage roll.

Internet mischief-makers have set up a Roll v Cole Facebook campaign in a bid to outdo the Geordie singer’s official fan club.

They want more than 1.5million fans to sign up to their pastry page to beat the fan club, and last night 815,570 Facebook users had got on board in just nine days.

Cheeky Chris Freeman, who set up the site with pal Tom Lindsey, said: “Currently Cheryl Cole has 1,506,045 fans. Can this plain sausage roll get more? I think so.

“Help us by inviting all your friends. Just think, this sausage roll could become more famous than Cheryl Cole, won’t that be a sight to see?

“Sausage rolls for all if this hits the target. We gotta fight, fight, fight for this roll.”

X Factor judge and Girls Aloud singer Cheryl, 26, has been in the singles chart for 15 weeks with her latest solo hit 3 Words.

And she has been nominated for a BRIT for her catchy track Fight For This Love.

But Alan McLean posted on the group Can This Sausage Roll Get More Fans Than Cheryl Cole?: “At least when you get sick of a sausage roll you can throw it away … or give it to a tramp.”
