1.4M BRIT JOBS GIVEN TO FOREIGN WORKERS

ABOVE: Gordon Brown pledged 'British jobs for British workers' two years ago
8th February 2010

By Richard Peppiatt

A WHOPPING 1.4million foreign workers have come to Britain since Gordon Brown’s “British Jobs for British Workers” pledge two years ago.

The figure, from the Department of Work and Pensions, reveals almost 1.4million national insurance numbers have been issued to foreign nationals since July 2007.

The paperwork is vital for anyone who wants to work legitimately or claim benefits. But experts believe more than a million foreigners are working illegally. Shocked Tories said the figures showed immigration is “out of control”.

Shadow Communities Minister Sayeeda Warsi said: “This is yet another example of chaos within the immigration system.

“It can’t go on. We must bring immigration under control.”

UK workers marched on London last week claiming Gordon Brown had failed in his “British jobs” promise.

The recession means 275,000 Brit builders are facing years on the dole.

Work and Pensions Minister Angela Eagle said: “These national insurance numbers include people coming to study and to do part-time work, and many have subsequently returned home.”
