REVIEW: ASTROBOY
Astro Boy (PG)
Action-seeking youngsters are ideally catered for by this amazing animated adventure.
It tells the tale of a boy robot created by a scientist who is grieving over the loss of his own son,
And he soars into the sky to save his futuristic city and its people.
The animation is gaudy and gripping and the story has plenty to grab youngsters’ attention – including some surprisingly moving moments.
There is also a healthy helping of mad monsters, riotous robots, slam-bang fights and feisty set-pieces to keep the action rolling along.
Freddie Highmore, with just a touch of a mid-Atlantic accent, speaks well for Astro Boy.
Nicolas Cage does his bit as his dad, while Donald Sutherland as a crooked politician and Bill Nighy add to the lively fun.
VERDICT: 6/10
