WOFF SET TO TAI UP TITLE FOR HIS DAD

ABOVE: Tai is hoping to win the title for his dad
30th September 2009

By Daily Star Reporter

ROB Woffinden was told he had only six to nine months to live back in February.

But the 47-year-old will catch a flight to Croatia tomorrow morning in the hope of seeing his teenage son Tai crowned World Under-21 Champion.

And last night the Great Britain World Cup star admitted: “It would be nice to win for my dad.”

Despite his illness, the ex-Scunthorpe rider has been at most of Tai’s meetings this season.

And he will be at his son’s side in the pits at Gorican on Saturday when Tai bids to become the first Englishman to win the title since Lee Richardson 10 years ago.

Tai, 19, said: “It has been a little bit tough and it’s going to get tougher.

“It makes me a little bit more determined, I want to win things for my dad.”
