ABOVE: Vauxhall won't be selling

CAR workers at Vauxhall were celebrating yesterday as the firm’s owners decided not to sell its European business.


The General Motors board is to scrap plans to sell its Opel and Vauxhall brands to Canadian firm Magna.


The news was welcomed by 5,500 UK workers, mainly at Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, and Luton, Beds.


Unite joint general secretary Tony Woodley said: “It is fantastic news for the UK.”
