Thank goodness for spell check! Obviously went to a different gig from the one the reviewer attended, either that or the hospitality champagne was flowing a little too much! "white face-painted buff dancers surrounded Leona like a Geisha goddess" .......the dancers were terrible, out of time and just looked ridiculous. Why the knee pads and knickerbockers. They didn’t fit in with Leona’s image at all. The beginning section the dancers held up pieces of white chiffon resembling tea towels as they all swayed to a different beat from each other. "Thank you so much for coming out," she grinned..... over and over again. get over it. You’re not trying to get phone votes now! Of course we came it was free! Stop being so thankful, start believing the fans want to be there. "A hologram filled the stage as Leona belted out gorgeous new single Happy." ....... must have been at a different place. The press pack may have said hologram but sorry it was a projection, plain and simple. The background, think Madonna frozen video and you not far off. "A mesmerising special effect to match effortless vocals. " .... when she sang . did you not notice that the vocals backing track made much more of an effort than Leona. In outa my head she gave up the singing through a whole section to try out a some dancing. Miss Spears has a lot to answer for! I felt so sorry for Leona as she left the stage after the penultimate song. The management had obviously told her to wait for the mind blowingly loud applause before returning to the stage for an encore. The applause never came just a long awkward silence. I can understand why. How could this be the encore . Leona had only been on stage for forty minutes but it was. That was the end. Oh well at least she'd left as time to nip for a curry on the way home. I don't think the blame lies with Leona Lewis for this shambles of a show but should be firmly place at the feet of the team around her. My overwhelming thought as I left the Hackney Empire last night was "Boy oh boy are some people gonna get sacked in the morning" I really hope so for the sake of Leona’s future because if they think that this show is a good arena to showcase Leona’s undeniable talent they are very much mistaken. Someone buy the production team some tickets to some concerts. They don't need to be fussy. Madonna , Kylie, Siousie Sioux, Grace Jones. Girls aloud even!! If the budgets all been taken up by Projectors and backing track production they could always look up Alexandra Burkes performance on x factor this season for a few tips!!Posted: 3 Nov 2009, at 10:22
